Fall has been jammed packed right from the get-go. We’ve had something booked every weekend since September 20th. To say that October went by in a blink of an eye is a serious understatement.
I’m not huge into Halloween, now Christmas, that’s my jam. I love to have the house decorated, thoughtful presents bought and wrapped perfectly, a good long baking day with my Grama and my Christmas cards complete well in advance of December 1st. This way there is no stress and I can simple enjoy the holiday festive-ness all month long. With all of our weekends booked, it was impossible to book a session with our regular photographer, so I took advantage of having my mother-in-law in town and we had an impromptu fall family portrait session. I knew my mother-in-law was going to be here so I spent a few days pulling outfits together, picked a location, set the camera manual modes and handed it to her, all the while smiling and wrangling the kiddos in between giving photography instruction.
I think she did a fantastic job!
I took the photos of the kids and hubby and my mother-in-law took all of our family and couple photos. It truly was a life saver and easy on the budget. The portrait session was threefold: 1. we love to get family photos done a few times a year, 2. we needed a photo for Miss Zoe’s first birthday invitation (sneak peek on her party here) and 3. we needed a family photo for our Christmas card…… with a little improvisation, mission complete.
